Our Goal: £2000
Covid 19 Health in PNG
This Global Pandemic has pushed Papua New Guinea’s health system to the limit, hospitals are so overburdened they are turning away patients due to a lack of medical staff. Stigma around the virus is still rife throughout the country and many people refuse to go for testing even when showing symptoms. Masks are worn to enter buildings, but outside people still walk around without masks as conspiracy theories and claims of immunity grow. The vaccine roll out is slow and currently 1 in 5 of the tests are positive, indicating that there is widespread community transmission. Help us to raise money to support hospitals and health centres by providing essential PPE and Covid Awareness.
Many women have the skills to sew but cannot afford the cost of the machine and we want to support, upskill and empower them. Women have an important role in managing family affairs and the sewing machine can enable them to also become breadwinners for their families, providing life-long benefit. We would like to raise money to provide 20 sewing machines to support women in remote communities. One machine costs £120.
